For cheapest LAX airport parking off-site lots are your best bet
If price is your biggest consideration, you definitely want to check out private offsite lots near (but not actually on the grounds of) Los Angeles International Airport.
More than two dozen companies offer parking near LAX (most within 3 miles of the airport). It's pretty simple to search lots, compare costs, read LAX parking reviews from real customers and book online when you use this quick and easy airport parking comparison website.
BONUS SAVINGS: Use our coupon code HELPER5 at checkout to save an extra $5 on your reservation!
While being budget-friendly may be their best selling point (we’ve seen rates as low as $8 per day before), there are a number of other reasons to consider LAX off-site parking garages.
Guaranteed parking space. There is no reserved parking in LAX parking lot E (the economy lot), so finding a spot can be stressful – especially with your flight time looming. Booking an LAX off-site lot means you’ve got a space waiting just for you. Working out this detail of your trip in advance can really help reduce your level of travel stress.
Free shuttle. That’s right! You pull into your reserved spot and a shuttle picks you up and delivers you straight to your terminal. How convenient is that? Shuttles are available for your return trip, too. Each LAX parking lot has its own policies and frequencies, which are clearly spelled out on the site.
Perks. Airport valet parking is available at several of the lots along with other perks such as free newspaper, bottled water, and auto spa services. Need indoor or covered parking? No problem. Just search the LAX list and find the ones that offer this amenity. Regardless, you’ll find plenty of parking options that are cheaper than the LAX parking lots on-site.
Enhanced security and free cancellations are other reasons travelers tell us they prefer an off-site parking garage for long term parking. LAX has abundant options so consider marking this off your travel to-do list ASAP.

Hotel shuttles run to and from the airport on a regular basis so you’ll rest easy knowing you have a quick trip directly to your terminal – and your car will remain in a well-monitored hotel parking lot.

- Help with all of your luggage

Browse LAX parking coupons on local deal sites with transportation offers
There are great discounts to be found for all sorts of things on daily deal sites like Groupon, including cheap parking. LAX short term parking or long term parking savings can often be 50 percent or more.
Check for deals on a regular basis and never miss potential LAX discount parking by bookmarking this collection of Groupon LAX parking and ground transportation deals.
The thing about these sites is that the deals tend to change often so you may not always find one specifically for LAX overnight parking, but you may find a great discount on other LAX travel-related services.
Perhaps a deal on LAX limo services, one-way airport transportation, an economy shuttle van or an LAX valet parking promotion would be a viable alternative to parking if the price was right.
Groupon is also a great place to find deals to use at your travel destination. You can save big on restaurants, concerts, museums, shows, spa treatments and more so be sure and check out those local deals and treat yourself to something fun!
A final recommendation: Before purchasing, you might check Groupon's refund policy and be sure to read each offer carefully to make sure it’s good on the date you plan to redeem it.
Skip LAX long term parking rates and opt for 2 one-way car rentals instead
Here’s a scenario many travelers might find themselves in: You’re leaving for a long trip and you live 3-4 hours away from the airport. You’re not very familiar with the area and paying the costly daily LAX parking rate for three weeks would be a budget strain.
How about reserving two one-way car rentals? You pick up the rental car near your home and drive it straight to the airport where you return it before boarding your flight. When you get back, you reverse the process, picking up a car at the airport rental agency to drive back to your hometown. No shuttles, no buses, no cringe-worthy LAX parking fees!
Searching through individual LAX car rental companies online can be cumbersome – but here's an online car rental aggregator we love that will show you prices and terms for many local LAX rental car companies all in one place.
You compare the best prices and reserve online (no credit card required!). This online car rental outfit is part of the Priceline Group – one of the world’s leading travel companies – and contracts with every major car rental company. This gives them the ability to negotiate some pretty great prices since they arrange so many rentals through their site.
Sometimes even the best parking at LAX will still bust the budget. Is skipping the parking right for you? Start your search for LAX car rental options.
How much is long-term parking at LAX and where's the best place to park on-site?
While definitely not the cheapest option, there are two LAX parking options on site. Which you choose may depend on the distance to your departing terminal.
1) The Central Terminal Area is made up of 8 on-site individual LAX car parking lots that are located across from the passenger terminals. With nearly 8,000 spaces, these areas are available for overnight parking. LAX owns the lot and allows long term and short term stays.
2) LAX Economy Parking Lot E is a designated economy parking center with over 2,500 spots available on a first-come, first-served basis (Parking Lot C closed in April of 2019). Located at 5455 W 111th Street, you will need to take a shuttle to the terminal area from this lot to the LAX Central Terminal Area where it stops at each terminal. The shuttle service runs every 15 minutes, but note that the new Lot E is further from the terminal loop than the previous Lot C, so be sure to allow plenty of time on the front end. Traffic is always a consideration in LA, and while the airport states the shuttle ride can take between 15-30 minutes, there's always a chance of a rush-hour back up. Plan ahead and view live traffic conditions at LAX lots before departing for the airport
The following rates were published at time this article was last updated for on site LAX airport parking options:
Parking Lots | Rate for First Hour | Max Daily Rate |
---|---|---|
Central Terminal Area (CTA – All lots except Lot E) |
$5.00 | $40.00 |
Economy Lot E |
$4.00 | $12.00 |

IMPORTANT NOTE: LAX's parking lots do not accept parking reservations. While you can calculate on-site LAX Parking Fees at the official airport link above based on your length of stay and the parking lot you choose, you are not guaranteed that space will be available at the time of your trip.

Why is Los Angeles airport called LAX?
Here's a fun fact: According to the official Los Angeles World Airports FAQ page, the X in LAX has no significant meaning. The site explains it this way:
“Before the 1930s, existing airports used a two-letter abbreviation based on the weather station at the airports. So, at that time, LA served as the designation for Los Angeles International Airport. But, with the rapid growth in the aviation industry, the designations expanded to three letters, and LA became LAX. The letter X does not otherwise have any specific meaning in this identifier.”
Where can I find LAX parking coupons?
We've listed our exclusive LAX airport promo code (code HELPER5) above to save $5 on either off-site lots or Los Angeles hotels with free airport parking packages. You can also visit our Top Travel Deals page for the most recent discounts on other travel necessities such as airfare, rental cars and more.
How do I verify the parking status at Los Angeles airport?
Unfortunately, on-airport LAX parking facilities do not feature an online portal to confirm the status of their parking lots, therefore you run the risk of arriving at the airport, driving around and around (stressful!) only to find the low-cost lots are occupied. With your departure time looming you will have no alternative but to park in one of the closer lots at a much higher daily rate.
This is why it's it's always a great idea to think ahead and make a reservation at a private off-site LAX lot. It's fast, easy and you'll have a guaranteed spot nearby plus a hassle-free shuttle ride straight to your terminal. You will likely save some money, to boot. Make sure you use LAX parking promo code HELPER5 at checkout to save an additional $5!
(Already on the road to the airport? Don't worry. Unless it's a busy holiday travel season, chances are a few of the off-airport lots will still have availability. Check now and book quickly and easily online. Remember your promotion code!)
Is there LAX valet parking and is it a good choice?
There are a variety of classifications for “valet” in regards to airport car parking. Here's a rundown.
First, there's the conventional definition of “valet parking,” when an airport attendant meets you in front of your departing terminal, takes your car and parks it on-site at the airport. Your car is then delivered back to you when you fly back in.
At LAX, traditional valet parking is not offered. However, read on for additional convenient alternatives.
There will also be a number of “valet” services available from privately owned off-site facilities, although the meaning can vary. With some lots, the employee will drive you to the airport in your car, leave you at your terminal and then provide parking in their secure off-site lot during your trip. At other lots, the attendant might meet you at the airport and then take your vehicle back to the off-site lot. Another meaning of “valet parking” is when the attendant meets you at your car in the off-site parking lot to help you with your luggage as you get on the shuttle (and again when you're arriving at your terminal).
Luckily, the privately-owned lots do a great job of defining what their valet options include in the individual explanation (along with additional amenities), so it is quite easy to evaluate if forking over a bit more is worth it to you for this benefit.
